Luss Highland Games
Despite occasional rain, the spirits of Clan Colquhoun members remained high throughout the Luss Highland Games, with Patrick, Lottie and Rory Colquhoun leading the parade. Members from the United States and Europe were welcomed by Clan Colquhoun host Sue Twist, together with co-host Sophie Twist, Isaac Howgate, John Lamis Colquhoun, Patrick Younger of Luss, George Kirkpatrick, and Sir Malcolm and Lady Colquhoun. Also joining the welcome was George MacFarlane, representing Clan MacFarlane and continuing his valued support for the Loch Lomond Clans initiative.
Benoît, Clément, Alexandre and Olivier from France arrived at the Clan Colquhoun tent in full pirate dress and were curious about our Si Je Puis motto. They enjoyed their visit so much that Benoît later wrote to say they hope to return next year — perhaps not as pirates, but as Clan Colquhoun members!
Grandfather Mountain Highland Games
Keith Calhoun (Virginia), together with long-standing members Jim and Becky Kilpatrick (Georgia), welcomed visitors to the Clan Colquhoun tent throughout the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. The Games opened with the traditional Torchlight Ceremony and Calling of the Clans, as torchbearers entered the arena before the ceremonial fire was lit. Clan Colquhoun joined fellow Loch Lomond Clans—Clan Buchanan, Clan Graham, Clan MacEwen and Clan MacFarlane—for the Parade of the Clans, one of the highlights of the weekend.
Savannah Highland Games
Clan Colquhoun welcomed visitors to its tent throughout the Savannah Highland Games, where Sharon and Tom Hodges were joined by long-standing Clan member Monica Shaw. Monica’s homemade cupcakes proved popular with visitors, while three Stormtroopers in kilts also stopped by the tent—although it has yet to be confirmed whether they were in regulation uniform.
